Festive Season Survival Tips

I can't believe that the festive season has arrived already - this year has flown by!

It is possible to maintain your health and energy without missing out on the fun and festivities. 

You already have the most amazing natural tools to support your body, so here are some tips and tricks to help you thrive during this eventful time of year.

 

Remain hydrated

As we experience Christmas in summer in the southern hemisphere, it is essential to drink plenty of filtered water. 

You need to drink a minimum of 30ml/ kg of body weight.  Eg 70kg adult = 2.1L per day. This amount needs to increase when you sweat (exercise) or drink alcohol as it is dehydrating.

If you find you don't enjoy drinking water, you can add a drop of your fave doTERRA Citrus Oil to your glass or stainless steel water bottle (no plastic!)

 eg. Lemon, Lime. Grapefruit, Tangerine or Smart & Sassy blend.

 

Enjoy, but be booze conscious

A great idea is to alternate your alcoholic drinks with water or go for non- alcoholic alternatives (of which there are now a huge range). Sparkling water or homemade mocktails with essential oils can be fabulous alternatives.

If do you happen to over indulge, hangover symptoms such as dry mouth and headaches are indicative of dehydration.

To help relieve the symptoms:

* Apply Peppermint to your temples and back of neck, 

* ZenGest/ DigestZen to your abdomen,

* Make a tea to sip on, with raw honey - 1 x drop Peppermint, 1x Lemon, 1x drop Ginger into warm water.

* Or just add lemon or grapefruit essential oils to your drinking water.

 

Eat mindfully

Overindulging in big meals can slow down your digestion, leaving you feeling tired, bloated and uncomfortable.

I recommend taking one digestive enzyme= Terrazyme with each meal. Digestive enzymes assist your body in breaking down your food in the stomach, before it passes to your small intestines.

If you do happen to overeat- add 1x drop of ZenGest to a glass of water and sip on it, and apply diluted ZenGest to your abdomen every half hour until you feel more comfortable.

 

Stress less and enjoy more

The holiday season needs a lot of preparation and planning which might leave you stressed. Also, for some of us, Christmas can be a lonely time. Stress and depression can ruin both your holidays and your health, not to mention all the interactions with family!

 

Use your oils daily to help keep your mood stable.

Morning:

1 x drop Copaiba under your tongue

1 x drop Frankincense to thumb - apply to roof of mouth

Apply Balance - grounding blend to pulse points & feet

 

Daytime:

Diffuser or apply calming oils/ blends eg Adaptiv, Holiday Peace, Forgive, Peace, Cheer, Motivate, Balance & Floral oils

 

Night:

1 x drop Copaiba under your tongue

1 x drop Frankincense to thumb - apply to roof of mouth

Apply Balance - grounding blend to pulse points & feet.
